Con el relativamente reciente "iOS 4"apareció una textura en mi opinión muy elegante, la de la barra de multitarea, pueden verla en la imagen de arriba. Esta textura además, según mis observaciones, será el fondo para el nuevo Dashboard de Mac OS X Lion.
Bueno, quise usarla de fondo pero no encontré nada en google, así que con ayuda de un tutorial online y un toque personal de Fireworks conseguí este resultado que, personalmente me gustó. Está en resolución de 1280x800 (Para MacBooks) pero (supongo) queda bien en pantallas más grandes. Aquí pueden ver la preview y un detalle de la textura:
